We want to get some fast and warm food for dinner this weekend, so we chose MalaTang. My husband and I tried the spicy mixing flavor before which we didn’t like it very much. So we decided to try the beef bone broth flavor this time. It was so delicious! We love the way that you can choose certain ingredients to make your personalized malatang. The staffs were very helpful and friendly.

First time here, just landed from some trips out of town. This place is the spot!! Went with the beef bone broth level 3, vermicelli noodles, some veggies and meat. The broth was extremely flavorful with a good kick of spice! Probably the best I’ve ever had from a hot pot place. For new comers, just walk in, grab the tongs and a bowl on the left and fill up with some fresh ingredients to the right. Price is by weight. Don’t forget the fridge with the drinks in the same area. After you’re done, go to the register and choose your broth! Grab a table and get your utensils from the area next to the bowls and tongs. The receipt has your order number, so wait for it to be called. I paid about $24 with tip (just had the water for a drink) and was extremely satisfied with both the food and the service. The server was very friendly and midway into our food she brought some orange slices to every table. I thought that was delightful and extremely nice gesture and definitely hit the spot while eating the spicy bowl I had. I ended up going back to the counter to order a small bowl of rice and grabbed a Sprite. Don’t listen to the entitled haters like Ting Ting or Kenji. This is a self serve “build your own” hot pot place… they are acting like it should be some fancy high end Bellevue establishment and are concerned about little things lol. I was just in Japan and then went to Maine after.. try the Asian food in Maine and then try to complain lmaooo. If you’re thinking about going to a hot pot place and want to try something other than Boiling Point, go to YGF!

Interior was clean and well lit (although many tables were packed into the small space). Staff regularly checked on self serve ingredients and were nice. Liked that there were many non vegan and vegan options, broths as well. Our party tried a curry base (tasted like the cubes), beef broth (creamy as if soybean paste were added), and the ‘spicy mixing’ which tasted mostly of salt and cumin with some chili oil. Although it seems pricey we had leftovers for which they gave us big containers.

Cool experience of a hotpot but you choose the items you want! Self service area where you can pick up proteins, veggies, and carbs. Select your broth, get some sauces, and eat! Beware that the self service is weight based for payment so it adds up.
